Transaction Fees and Membership

North Dakota Chapter Members,

At this year’s Annual Business meeting, the idea of an increase in our membership dues was part of New Business. The Board wanted to take this time and explain the logic behind that topic. As you are all aware over the last few years, we have transitioned many of the Chapter’s business functions online and increased our capacity to accept electronic payments. This transition has made the task of renewing memberships and registering for the annual meeting and workshops much more streamlined, for both members and Board Members alike. However, with that convenience comes a cost to the Chapter. For each credit card transaction, we process through our website or other electronic platform, the Chapter is charged a fee through our website host, a convenience fee up to 3%, and a fixed fee per transaction, depending on the payment platform. So, reason one for a possible membership due increase would simply be to cover the cost of doing business today.

Chapter membership dues cannot increase without approval from the membership, and the Board is not prepared to ask you for a vote at this time. Over the next year the Board does plan to explore this topic further with you, the membership. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments regarding membership dues, please share them with the Board by emailing us at ndctws@gmail.com

Best Regards On Behalf of the NDCTWS Board,

Rachel Bush, Past-President
