RAWA Passes House: A Message to the Membership - Ed Arnett, CEO
On June 14th 2022, Ed Arnett, CEO, delivered the following message to the TWS membership regarding Recovering America’s Wildlife Act passing the House.
TWS members,
Today, the U.S. House of Representatives made extraordinary progress toward conserving the future of fish and wildlife by passing the Recovering America's Wildlife Act.
This is a monumental step for the legislation. We are thankful to all TWS members, partners, and our Conservation Affairs Network that worked so hard to elevate the needs of fish and wildlife with their congressional delegation. Moving legislation through a chamber of Congress is no small feat—thanks in part to the hundreds of letters, emails, calls, meetings, and other engagements provided by TWS membership, we got it done. I also want to thank TWS’ government relations staff for their hard work and coordination with members and organization units to advance this bill.
While we take a moment to celebrate the most significant progress made towards dedicated funding for at-risk species in a generation, we must also look ahead to the next phase of the campaign—passage out of the U.S. Senate. You can visit TWS' Action Center to send a letter to your Senators now.
We will keep you informed and updated on future opportunities to engage as we approach Senate consideration. We will need “all hands on deck” to ensure the Recovering America's Wildlife Act gets to the President’s desk, so keep up the great work and support to help make this happen!
In the meantime, please take a moment to celebrate this victory for wildlife professionals and the species we conserve!
Sincerely,
Ed Arnett, CEO - The Wildlife Society
